Story Behind Our Amazing Guinness World Record Attempt
July 27, 2010 | Comments (0)
Tagged amazing grace, en2010, every nation, guinness world record, one song multiple singers |

On Friday, July 23, Every Nation Ministries made an official attempt to set the Guinness World Record for “The Most Languages Performed in a Song (Multiple Singers)” by performing “Amazing Grace” in 50 different languages.

Background on the attempt:

The Guinness World Record attempt was performed during EN2010, the world conference of Every Nation Ministries. Every Nation has churches and ministries in 61 nations and has a vision to plant a church in “every nation” of the world. Thus, singing “Amazing Grace” in 50 different languages was chosen for the Guinness World Record. In the Philippines, Every Nation is represented by Victory Church which has 14 congregations in Metro Manila and 42 provincial churches outside Metro Manila.

This world conference is only held once every three years – the previous conference, EN07, was held in Araneta Coliseum with more than 14,000 participants from 41 different nations. This time, EN2010 was held at the SMX Convention Center and featured 19,173 participants from 45 different nations.

The Story of Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace was written by John Newton, a former slave ship captain who came to Christ. Many people believe the melody of Amazing Grace is actually an old African folk song that Newton would have heard as the singing of the slaves wafted up from the hold of his slave ship. One of the most beloved Christian songs, Amazing Grace has been translated into almost every language in every nation. It is also referred to as the “National Anthem” of the Cherokee Indians, who sang Amazing Grace to encourage one another on the “Trail of Tears” as they were led on a forced relocation of almost 2,000 km on which 4,000 men, women and children perished.

On Friday night, July 23, participants of EN2010 celebrated “every nation” by singing “Amazing Grace” in 50 languages, including: Arabic, Mandarin, Zulu, Persian, Hindi, Spanish, Tagalog, Japanese, Cebuano and Cherokee Indian.

We are less than 23 days away, and we ask you to please join in our Three Days of  Special Prayer and Fasting from Tuesday June 29 to Thursday July 1, as pray for every aspect of the conference.

Please pray for grace, anointing, wisdom, and favor for our conference speakers, committee, worship, creative, technical, security, hospitalitys and production teams—and most of all, for the manifest presence of God to come before us.

WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR OUR EN2010 OPENING NUMBER!

Our EN2010 Theme Song is entitled “God Who Reigns“ written and composed by a member of our Worship Team in Manila, Jordan Bautista.

The opening number for EN2010 involves a music video featuring the EN2010 theme song and we want as many people from Every Nation to be part of it!

We need you to send a photo or video of you and your friend doing a simple “Come Together” gesture in time with the conference’s theme song.

We hope to gather as many photos and videos as possible coming from a diversity of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Following are step-by-step instructions.

STEP 1:

Download the theme song files:

God Who Reigns Download (12 MB)
God Who Reigns (Minus One) Download (9.12 MB)
God Who Reigns (Lyrics) Download (0.12 MB)

STEP 2:

Get familiar with the song and learn the “Come Together” gesture.

en2010-theme-song-gesture

See “Come Together” gesture here!

STEP 3:

Shoot photos or a video of yourself performing the “Come Together” gesture while singing along to the theme song!

Note: Both solo shots and group shots is ok.

FIVE POINTERS:

1. As much as possible, try to shoot outdoors in sunny weather (unless
dramatic overcast skies are a feature of your location).

2. Please film yourself with a recognizable world-famous landmark in the background (for example, the Big Ben, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, the Rice Terraces, etc.)

3. Feel free to film some additional dancing! But make sure you dance in time with the music.

4. Transfer your footage from camera to hard drive. We would appreciate
if you send us only your best takes.

5. Send us your photos or raw uncompressed footage via online file sharing services such as yousendit.com.

Send the download link to video@en2010.com.

Please submit on or before June 11, 2010.

Even if you can’t be at EN2010, you can take part by sending your video!

Efren, fondly called Kuya Ef, was awarded for his advocacy to educate Filipino out-of-school youth through “pushcart classes” — an advocacy which began 13 years ago.

Welcome to the final countdown!

We are so close to the opening of the Philippine registration for EN2010! Remember that registration will open at exactly 12 NN on March 1!

To make it as convenient as possible for you, we will walk you through the process of registration–but before we do so, please take note of these 4 important reminders!

Reminder #1. You can register a maximum of ten (10) persons per transaction.

Our system allows a registrant to register a maximum of ten (10) persons, i.e,

  • 8 adults at the Main Conference and 2 kids at Kids Church = 10 persons in 1 transaction
  • 10 adults at the Main Conference = 10 persons in 1 transaction
  • 10 kids at Kids Church = 10 persons in 1 transaction
  • 5 adults and 5 kids at the Main Session = 10 persons in 1 transaction

NOTE: Parents who want their children aged 0-12 to attend the Main Conference can do so by registering their children to the Main Conference at Php800 per child.

Reminder # 2. The registration will follow a “Best Seats Available” process.

There are two main venues at SMX for EN2010: Level 1 and Level 3. Both venues will present the same conference experience. Registration will be sold on a best seats available process simultaneously on both venues from seats nearest the stage.

Reminder # 3. During the 3-day conference, we will follow a “Free Seating Per Section” system.

Level 1 and level 3 of SMX will be divided into different sections. You are guaranteed a seat within your section. Seating per section will be on a first come, first served basis–meaning, you get to chose your seat but only within your assigned section. The earlier you come, the better your chances at getting your preferred seat within your section.

Reminder # 4. The conference IDs will be mailed to your designated mailing address via LBC.

Every Nation, in partnership with LBC–the leading courier service provider in the country–will deliver your conference IDs right at your doorstep. Please remember to put your complete mailing address on the mailing field provided on the registration page where your conference packs will be mailed.

darlene zschech 1

“Worship is the fuel our hearts need to allow our lives to be poured out in service. We must allow our worship and devotion to God to motivate us into action. We were not made to be simply singers of songs, but lovers of God who worship Him not just with our voices, but with our whole lives.”

-Darlene Zschech

Darlene Zschech, mother, songwriter, lead vocalist, worship pastor, and co-producer of Hillsong Music–one of Australia’s best selling worship artists–is coming to Manila in July, with her husband, Mark, as one of the main speakers at EN2010.

Darlene will talk about a topic very close to heart–worship.  She will also talk in a special session with our Every Nation worship leaders.

As a songwriter, Darlene has written over 40 songs and is perhaps most famous for the chorus of Shout to the Lord–sung by an estimated 25 to 30 million churchgoers around the world each week.

As Worship Pastor, overseeing the Worship & Creative Arts Department at Hillsong Church, Darlene lives her passion to lead people into the presence of God and see them realize their full potential in Him.

She plays the most precious role and the highest prize as wife and mother. Darlene lives in Sydney with her husband, Mark, and their three daughters, Amy, Chloe and Zoe.

Please join us  as we come together at EN2010 as one church–one Every Nation family!
